The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of the Lebanese Republic extended its deepest condolences to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its friendly people, and to the family of the Indonesian peacekeeper who was martyred while serving within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
She expressed her sincere wishes for a speedy recovery for the wounded.
The Ministry praised the courage and dedication of the Indonesian peacekeepers who stood by our side and continue to stand in the pursuit of peace and stability in southern Lebanon. Their sacrifices remind us of the risks borne by those who serve under the banner of the United Nations in order to maintain international peace and security.
While Lebanon strongly condemns the attack that occurred in the vicinity of the Indonesian battalion of UNIFIL near the town of Adshit al-Qusayr on March 29, 2026, which led to this tragic loss, it renews its call for the necessity of fully respecting the mandate of UNIFIL and ensuring the safety and security of all peacekeeping personnel, in accordance with the provisions of international law.
She said that any attack on United Nations personnel is unacceptable and undermines efforts aimed at maintaining peace.
The Ministry affirmed Lebanon's commitment to continuing close cooperation with UNIFIL and the international community to ensure accountability, prevent further escalation, and preserve Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Lebanon stands in solidarity with Indonesia in this painful tragedy.
